The thumb rule for calculating the depth of a beam based on its span depends on the type of beam and the loading conditions. 1. For Simply Supported Beams Depth (D) = Span / 15 to Span / 20 Example: If the span is 6 meters, Depth = 6000 mm / 15 to 6000 mm / 20 Depth = 400 mm to 300 mm 2. For Cantilever Beams Depth (D) = Span / 8 to Span / 10 Example: If the span is 4 meters, Depth = 4000 mm / 8 to 4000 mm / 10 Depth = 500 mm to 400 mm 3. For Continuous Beams Depth (D) = Span / 20 to Span / 25 Example: If the span is 8 meters, Depth = 8000 mm / 20 to 8000 mm / 25 Depth = 400 mm to 320 mm Other Considerations: The width (B) of the beam is usually 1/2 to 2/3 of the depth (D). The final design should always be verified with structural analysis and local building codes. बीम में लैपिंग ज़ोन वह स्थान होता है जहाँ दो सरियों (Reinforcement Bars) को आवश्यक लंबाई तक ओवरलैप करके जोड़ा जाता है। बीम में लैपिंग हमेशा कम बेंडिंग मोमेंट (Low Bending Moment Zone) वाले हिस्से में दी जाती है। साधारण (Simply Supported) बीम में नीचे की सरिया का अधिकतम मोमेंट बीच में होता है, इसलिए उसकी लैपिंग सपोर्ट के पास दी जाती है। वहीं ऊपर की सरिया की लैपिंग बीच के हिस्से में दी जाती है। सही लैपिंग ज़ोन देने से स्ट्रक्चर की मजबूती और सुरक्षा बनी रहती है। 🔎 सही स्थान पर दी गई लैपिंग = मजबूत और सुरक्षित बीम। #BeamLappingZone #BeamReinforcement #LappingZone #CivilEngineering #ConstructionSite #StructuralDesign #RCC #SiteEngineer #BuildingConstruction #ReinforcementDetail #CivilWork
