Who would have thought the transition from Crow to Tripod has nothing to do with fear… and everything to do with something you already know how to do? 🙂‍↕️ Crow to tripod isn’t the hard part. The real work is getting back up. Tripod headstand to crow. And here’s the wild thing: it’s the exact same action you use when you step a foot all the way forward between your hands without lifting them. Same mechanics. Same intelligence. Pushing strongly through the hands. Protracting. Pulling the core in and up. Creating space in the front body so the legs don’t drop, they float 🚀 That’s the key. Once you see that, this transition stops feeling mysterious and starts feeling logical. Challenging, yes. But trainable. And honestly kind of addictive once it clicks. I don’t hang out in headstands for long — my body doesn’t love that — but using tripod as a bridge? For strength, control, confidence, and a little wow factor? Absolutely. If you’ve got crow and you’re growing into tripod, this is way more achievable than it looks. And when it works, it feels really good. Knee behind the elbows ✓ find the sweet spot for a good foundation 3. Knee in armpit + straight arms ✓strong push + round spine to engage bandhas (careful with your wrists) 4. Crow Pose on forearms ✓ actually easy, you have to lean forward ! 5. Side crow ✓ elbow to outknee (if needed other elbow to hip) 6. Variation of side crow ✓ turn your body and your forearm in going down by itself, what's hard is to come back 😁 try ! 7. One leg crow ✓ if you find the sweet spot of point 2, then lean a bit more forward and the other leg will lift by itself 8. One leg crow eagle leg ✓ if point 7 is stable, then just cross your knees, feels stable ! 9. Funky one leg crow + leg variation ✓ funky variations looks spectacular but actually is easier, just try and have fun. Keep pushing the floor away :) Special thanks to @mind_overmat for this one 10. Because just like the saying goes, ‘energy flows where attention goes’✨ Yoga instructor, Alexandra Fratella, reminds us that your drishti, or your gaze, is crucial when practicing any arm balancing pose. As you look and lean forward (and keep a strong engagement of your arms and core) you will eventually find the sweet spot as your legs and feet become light enough to lift off the floor. If you’re afraid of falling on your face, don’t let that stop you! Place a Manduka block or blanket below your face to help you face that fear, or ask a friend or mentor to spot you.
