It’s a great way to combat anxiety and halt panic—especially in the middle of a stressful moment. Here’s how to tap: 1. Identify the issue or emotion you want to work on. 2. Formulate a phrase that acknowledges the issue while expressing self-acceptance. For example, “Even though I feel nervous about this interview, I know I am worthy.” 3. While repeating this phrase (or other affirmations), gently tap on the accupunture points listed below, using your fingertips and following a set sequence. Here’s where tap: 1. Top of head 2. Real change starts in the nervous system. When you tap on acupressure points while using focused affirmations, you send calming signals to the brain, and the science backs it up! A study by Dr. Peta Stapleton, published in 2020 in the Journal of Psychological Trauma found that EFT Tapping lowered cortisol levels by 43%. In a randomized, controlled trial, cortisol levels were measured via the saliva of participants before and after treatment with either EFT, psychoeducation, or resting. Each group received treatment for 60 minutes and cortisol was measured in their saliva before and after. The EFT Tapping group had a 43% drop in cortisol, while the psychoeducation group only had a 19% drop (and the resting group showed a 2% increase). You’re essentially sending a message of SAFETY to your body through touch & attention, helping it shift from FIGHT or FLIGHT → REST and DIGEST (how cool is that??)
