Woohoo! Starbucks just announced that as of Monday January 27th, you can now get your drink in (reusable - and lovely) ceramic cups or glasses to enjoy in every store. So I went to check it out and was pleasantly surprised to see it was indeed actually happening. Now, back in September I went undercover to expose how disingenuous Starbucks was about the fact that their coffee cups are NOT recyclable or compostable, and @storyofstuff started a petition for reuseable cups and incentivizing personal cups. I followed it up with how difficult they made it to pre-order your drink for your personal (reuseable) cup. And right about then, Starbucks hired new CEO Brian Niccol, who is reshaping the company to be more sustainable, starting with this ceramic cup initiative and not charging extra for environmentally friendly (and healthy) non-dairy milk alternatives. Coincidence? Maybe. But you’re welcome, just in case. 😁 Meantime, way to go @niccolbrian and @starbucks !
