JUAs recently reported by Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) and highlighted by ProPakistani, the government has made it mandatory for multiple business sectors to integrate with the official e-invoicing system. This includes clubs, hospitals, retailers, online sellers, schools, beauty clinics, and several service providers. The purpose is simple: every sale must now be digitally recorded and transmitted directly to FBR through an integrated POS (Point of Sale) or invoicing software.
Under these new rules, businesses cannot rely on manual or paper invoices anymore. Every transaction must generate a real-time digital invoice connected to FBR’s system. This ensures transparency, reduces under-reporting of sales, and strengthens tax documentation. Buyers may also be able to verify invoices online, increasing trust and accountability in commercial transactions.
Failure to integrate with the FBR e-invoicing system may result in penalties, supply restrictions, or other enforcement actions. The move is part of Pakistan’s broader digital transformation in tax administration, aiming to widen the tax net and formalize undocumented sectors. Businesses are therefore advised to upgrade their POS systems and ensure compliance as soon as possible to avoid legal or financial consequences.
