If you do as much EPP as I do then you know this pain. You either leave 1/3 of the stick behind or you squeeze out every last bit of glue that you end up sticky all over. I have tried using glue sticks and other brands but I always come back to sewline gluesticks. I bag up the refill sticks as they empty and when I have a handful of them I move them over to an empty Elmers glue stick. I add one of the EPP tips and now I am able to get more use out of each stick. Then I set it aside for the next project and repeat. As a side note, I really wish I could buy the @sewline_official glue stick refills in packs of 50/100. I do a lot of basting for others and go through a lot of sticks! #epp #sewinghacks #sewingtips #sewingcommunity #quilt

They aren’t just full of someone’s old junk. Well, to be fair, there is at least *some* junk, but there are more modern treasures as well! Just ask Nisha.    3️⃣ Cutting dog ears • As tempting as it is to tidy up and rid your EPP block of those pesky tags, keep them and tuck them under your EPP instead. ✨ 4 ways to cut fabric for EPP ✨ Which one are you???? I’m a person who loves choice… and I don’t really like being told what to do either (especially by the quilt police!) Which is why I like options. Here are 4 options for when you’re cutting out fabric for your next EPP project… ✨ Option 1 Cut your fabric into strips (measure your shape & add 6/8” for seam allowance to work out your strip width). Then, place your shape/paper piece onto the fabric strip & roughly cut out using a rotary cutter. This is a great option for when you’re making a scrappy quilt & not too worried about the orientation of the fabric. Jodi of @talesofcloth is the master 🙇🏻‍♀️ of this method! ✨ Option 2 Again, cut your fabric into strips. This time, on the wrong side of the fabric glue your shape in place, making sure to have enough fabric all the way around. Then you can pick them up and cut around the shape with your ✂️! This method also works well with fabric from your scrap baskets! Since you have glued the shape in place, you can simply continue to glue baste the fabric to the shape. Like option 1 this is great for scrappy quilts! ✨Option 3 My go to option - use an acrylic template! Whilst the first 2 options are fast and dirty, using an acrylic template is a more precise method, as your fabric is a consistent size. Plus, I like the neat backs on my EPP! Basically, you place the template on top of the fabric & cut around it with a rotary cutter. For the least amount of fabric waste, align your fabric to the edge of the fabric before you cut! ✨Option 4 Fussy cutting! This option deserves its own tutorial, but for our purposes today - using a clear acrylic template, you can find a motif on your fabric and set it inside the window/ seam allowance and cut out that shape! Warning - your fabric tends to look like lace once you’re done!
