Here’s what the middle of the country looks like. 👀   Right here — between the Atlantic and the Pacific — is a quiet spot that reminds you just how big and beautiful this country really is. 🇨🇦   The Centre of Canada rest stop sits just outside Winnipeg, along the Trans-Canada Highway. Most people drive past without thinking twice… but honestly, it’s one of those places worth pulling over for. A moment to stretch, breathe, and look around at the endless prairie sky.   There’s a huge sign marking the exact midpoint of the country — perfect for that “I was here” photo. Was nice to get away to @staylakehouse for a couple days and recharge. We stayed in the Marigold Cottage and you can see from this reel how amazing the space was. Not only we did we experience some great hikes and outdoors with the great weather, but we had an amazing show from the northern lights at night. The restaurant at @staylakehouse has some of the best and most delicious food creations I’ve came across. You know it’s good when you could see yourself ordering everything on the menu. Photos & video @davesandford Today just might have been the last I’ve seen of polar bears on land for 2025..? Enough sea ice has formed along the coast of Western Hudson Bay to provide a platform for the bears to return to their hunting & breeding grounds. It’s pretty amazing once the ice is stable enough, just how quickly the bears disappear from land. It’s as if the snap, crackle & pop of the ice is a literal dinner bell for these hungry bears. Today was also release day. The last of the bears who were doing time in the polar bear holding facility were released onto the ice this morning. We had the opportunity to watch the last 3 bears run out into the ice as Manitoba Conservation officers released them. Each culprit, marked with green paint, this practice allows them to identify a repeat offender should they return to the town of Churchill. Happy days for this sub population of polar bears - it’s been a privilege to have a shared so much time with you this year. Happy hunting my friends!
