Billy Crammond, o mais próximo da escotilha sofreu uma morte tão violenta que os próprios investigadores tiveram dificuldade em descrevê-la sem se tremerem. Apenas um mergulhador conseguiu sobreviver, com feridas que marcariam para sempre o seu corpo e a sua memória.
O acidente deixou claro algo que a indústria tinha ignorado: os sistemas de segurança eram precários e o trabalho dos mergulhadores, essencial para a exploração petrolífera, era realizado em condições que roçavam o desumano.
Passaram 26 anos de silêncio, julgamentos e dor para que o governo norueguês reconheça a sua responsabilidade. Finalmente, em 2009, as famílias das vítimas receberam indemnizações e um reconhecimento amargo: a tragédia poderia ter sido evitada.

However, if there is loss of consciousness, a severe headache that doesn’t improve, or persistent bleeding, it’s essential to go to the hospital immediately.
To prevent head injuries, personal protective equipment such as helmets should be worn in hazardous workplaces, and the work or home environment should be clear of obstacles that could cause falls.
Safety precautions should also be followed when using heavy equipment, and one should avoid standing under hanging objects or in areas with low ceilings without looking.
In cases of falls or severe blows to the head, it is important to monitor the person for at least 24 hours, even if they appear normal immediately after the injury. Symptoms that warrant concern include loss of balance, blurred vision, difficulty speaking, weakness in a limb, or bleeding from the nose or ears. If any of these symptoms appear, medical help should be sought immediately.
In cases where no serious symptoms are present, the injured person can be monitored at home with complete rest, avoiding strenuous activities such as intense sports or heavy physical labor until all symptoms subside. However, if symptoms persist or worsen over time, it is best to consult a doctor to avoid any unexpected complications.
