I'm showing you exactly how to use an old work box to secure that outlet back into the drywall without needing to patch the wall or find a stud. This is a massive lifesaver for anyone doing a DIY home renovation or just trying to fix a loose plug that won't stay put. * The Right Tool: You need an old work box (usually blue), which is specifically designed for installing into existing drywall. * Simple Install: Remove the old box from the wire, feed the wire through the new box, and slide it into the existing hole. * The Secret Mechanism: As you tighten the screws, little "dog ear" tabs flip up behind the drywall and clamp the box securely in place. * No Stud Required: This creates a rock-solid mount anywhere in the wall, even if there isn't a wooden stud nearby. * Pro Tip: Make sure the hole hasn't crumbled too wide, or you might need to do some minor drywall repair first.
