Your feet are in casts right now. You just call them shoes 🦶 7 years ago my husband convinced me to try barefoot shoes - Vivo Barefoot Primus. The first 2 months were rough. Sore calves. Sore shins. Muscles I didn't even know existed were waking up because they'd been cushioned into weakness my whole life. After that - everything changed. Leaner legs. Better balance. The feeling of wanting to get up and move came back. Your foot has 26 bones, 33 joints, and over 100 muscles, tendons, and ligaments. When you put it in a cushioned shoe with arch support and an elevated heel, you shut all of that down. Your feet stop communicating with the ground. Your balance deteriorates. Your calves weaken. Your posture shifts. You wouldn't put a cast on a healthy arm and expect it to stay strong. That's what conventional shoes do to your feet. And if you have toddlers - this matters even more. Your child's feet are developing right now. Their balance, agility, and ability to move confidently all start from the ground up. Many shoes have excessive padding and while pillow-type padding can feel pretty amazing when you walk it can prevent you from using certain muscle groups that can actually strengthen your body. Other benefits of walking barefoot include: - better control of your foot position when it strikes the ground - improvements in balance, proprioception, and body awareness, which can help with pain relief - better foot mechanics, which can lead to improved mechanics of the hips, knees, and core maintaining appropriate range of motion in your foot and ankle joints as well as adequate strength and stability within your muscles and ligaments relief from improperly fitting shoes, which may cause bunions, hammertoes, or other foot deformities stronger leg muscles, which support the lower back region Now I’m not saying walk barefoot all the time! Or in spots with cactus or pokey things! But if you find a nice area of slick rock, a nice muddy creek bed, or a grassy field, maybe try it! And of course, you’ll probably have a significant other like I do who constantly makes fun of you for walking around with no shoes 😂

Stimulating these receptors improves coordination, posture, and movement efficiency. ⚡ Your feet help regulate your nervous system. Natural ground contact and sensory stimulation can shift your body from stress mode into parasympathetic “rest and repair.” 🌎 Grounding matters. Because really, there’s nothing wrong with your feet, you just never saw or learned how to use the correctly. Don’t worry your feet are geniuses once taught and released a lil. An engineering feat unmatched by humans of all time, just walking you around. No big deal. My arches are high, so I had to learn how to set them down, and let me tell you, I’ve never been so strong or comfortable. I had chronic foot tightness that I tried LITERALLY EVERYTHING for (except surgery). All the mobility drills, all the bodywork, all the adjustments. But it turns out my foot just was not in the right alignment when I used it. It’s really that simple. Tag someone who needs to know how to use their feet!
