Back in 1971, the UN and the global community did not prevent the murderous Pakistani Army and its Bangladeshi proxy Jamaat e Islami from orchestrating one of the worst genocides in global memory. Now fifty-five years down the line, those perpetrators continue to enjoy impunity as these international bodies continue to deny the massacre of millions and indiscriminate rape among other atrocities. Emboldened by the absence of international recognition and impunity, the perpetrators- Pak Army and its allies – launched a fierce notorious campaign of genocide denial to erase shred of evidence and vilify millions of martyrs and survivors. Despite overwhelming evidence of genocide surrender, from Gen Yahiya Khan to incumbent army chief Asim Munir, every Pak army chief sought to whitewash the genocide as they protected each Pak army officials responsible for these war atrocities, sponsored deception campaign, projecting our war heroes and the independence leaders as traitors. Echoing the tone, Bangladesh’s Jamaat, abusing state power with like-minded allies, has launched a cultural genocide while they seek to undo all the gains of 1971, a stark betrayal with our freedom and flag. Vandalism of thousands of war memorials, physical assault on war heroes and distortion of independence history have been rewarded with impunity. Even the party that led the struggle for independence Awami League has been banned by a draconian law. But as history showed, these attempts will never succeed. It is high time the world community must recognize the genocide, a first step to bring accountability and serve justice at least as a tribute to victims and survivors. #Bangladesh #PakArmyGenocide #BangladeshGenocide #GenocideDay #25March

The Prime Minister of Bangladesh described the events of March 25, 1971, as a “pre-planned genocide,” which contradicts historical facts. In reality, the Pakistan Army’s operation was an internal action to restore law and order, not genocide, and losses occurred on both sides. Independent authors and researchers, such as Sarmila Bose and M. Rafiqul Islam, have challenged exaggerated claims with more accurate data. Despite its limited numbers, the Pakistan Army acted professionally against Indian forces and active militias, and the notion of it being an “occupation force” is not consistent with international law. This statement appears to ignore historical context and mutual losses, aiming instead to create a political narrative. #explore #trendingreels #fyp #viral

A silent night. Roaring tanks. Countless unheard voices. On the night of March 25, darkness tried to silence a nation- but it only ignited the fire of freedom. 20th Centuries Regrettable Mid-evil Heinous Night that initiated systemic genocide on Bengalis of Bangladesh. March 25, 1971, Bangladesh. This evening Bangladesh time, we honor the millions of lives lost and the courage of those and their loved ones who endured the 1971 Bangladesh Genocide. On this date, 55 years back the Pakistani junta launched Operation Searchlight, a brutal military crackdown aimed at crushing the Bengali nationalist movement in East Pakistan build democratically over 24 years (1947-1971). What happened since 1947 were new colonial framework in post colonial British empire. The March 25 of 1971 was a continuity of systematic practice that was build on West Pakistan military complexes crimes against humanity against the East. Subsequent mass killings, displacement and barbaric violence. The atrocities on East Pakistani Bengalis were not carried out by the West Pakistan military junta alone; Local collaborator outfits—including Al-Badr, Al-Shams, and the Razakars—were formed with the support of Jamaat-e-Islami. Together, they targeted: intellectuals; Teachers, doctors and writers who were systematically eliminated to ensure intellectual void of the emerging nation. Minorities; The Hindu community faced disproportionate violence. The Youth; Students at Dhaka University were among the first victims of the "Operation Searchlight”; all were victims of state sponsor terrorism against humanity in East Pakistan by West Pakistan juntas and their cohorts. Many West Pakistanis adhering to humanity strongly condemned the administration’s position and excesses. History isn't just about the past; it’s about the truth we carry forward shaping the conscious of a nation. We remember history to: 1. Acknowledge the Scale of human cost of the war of independence of Bangladesh, 200,000 females genocidal rape, 3,000,000 lives were lost, infrastructure destroyed, financial system demolished to ground emptying banks capitals and reserves. All were done systematically demonstrating meticulous design. 2. Honor Resilience: The spirit of the Bengali people eventually led to the birth of an independent Bangladesh spearheaded by Awami League over 24 years (1947

Pakistani journalist Anthony Mascarenhas, who attended an internal meeting and later exposed this wrote that Paksitan policy was clear: the Bengalis must be ruled by West Pakistanis; the Bengalis would had to be re-educated along proper Islamic lines and when the Hindus had been eliminated by death and flight, their property would be used as a golden carrot to win over the under privileged Muslim middle class. Young men were rounded up in sweeps and never seen again. Bodies appeared in rivers, in fields, near army camps. Scholar R.J. Rummel documented how boys were specifically targeted to eliminate future resistance. Bangladesh PM’s remarks on 25 March 1971 overlook key historical facts. Pakistan Army’s Operation Searchlight was a security response to internal unrest, not a campaign of extermination. Bangladesh PM should consult credible historians before labeling 1971 events as “genocide.” The conflict was a complex civil war, not a one-sided narrative. Selective history deepens divisions instead of healing them. #HistoryMatters #1971War #SouthAsia #Geopolitics #foryou

🚨🚨 More than five decades after 1971, the wounds of history continue to shape present-day narratives and politics in South Asia. The recent remarks by Bangladesh’s Prime Minister calling the events of March 1971 a “pre-planned massacre” are not just a statement of remembrance—they are a reaffirmation of national memory and identity rooted in the Liberation War. The events of 1971 remain one of the most defining and painful chapters in the region’s history, marked by widespread violence, displacement, and loss of life during the final months of East Pakistan’s struggle for independence. For Bangladesh, this period is central to its nationhood, and annual commemorations serve as both tribute and reminder. For others in the region, however, interpretations of these events often differ, making the issue sensitive and diplomatically complex. Such statements inevitably carry contemporary implications. They influence bilateral relations, revive historical debates, and sometimes deepen existing fault lines between countries. At the same time, they also highlight the role of history in shaping political legitimacy and public sentiment within nations. The persistence of these narratives shows that history in South Asia is not confined to textbooks—it is actively lived, remembered, and contested. The challenge lies in balancing remembrance with reconciliation, ensuring that acknowledgment of the past does not close the door to dialogue in the present. Ultimately, this is not just about revisiting 1971. It is about how nations choose to remember, interpret, and engage with their past—and how those choices continue to influence the future of regional relations #Bangladesh #india #diplomacy #pakistan #bnp
