🙅🏽‍♀️Gentle parenting doesn’t work… 🤷🏼‍♀️It doesn’t work IF your goal is blind obedience, to have your kids “do as I say not as I do,” if you need complete control, and more. 🎉 But it does work if you want more presence in your relationship, more conscious communication and more emotional intelligence. 🗣️ I get this comment a lot. And one thing I always ask is “well what is your goal in parenting?”⬅️ 🤬 Authoritarian parenting doesn’t work … if your goal is conscious communication and mutual respect. It absolutely works if you want your kids to fear you. 🙉 Permissive parenting doesn’t work … if you want to have control. It absolutely works if it’s too much to handle. 🌱 So you have to ask yourself, what is your goal in parenting? Depending on the relationship you want Depending on the work you’re willing to do on yourself Depending on how much time you’re willing to invest on teaching skills Depending on your willingness to be patient and allow your child to learn skills at THEIR pace and not yours ❓knowing the answer to those questions give you some insight into your goals as a parent. 😘 So it’s not that gentle parenting doesn’t work… it’s that your parenting goals don’t align with the style. Period. 👯‍♀️ For those who want it, it works incredibly well ✨✨ What is your style of parenting? Share below!!! ⬇️

Isn’t it hilarious how discipline has evolved from generation to generation? Baby boomers had one style, Gen X had another, millennials are somewhere in between, and Gen Z parents are basically writing dissertations on feelings 😅 Parenting really said ‘choose your own adventure’ through the decades. #ParentingEvolution #MomHumor #MillennialMom #GenXParents #gentleparenting #BoomerParenting #GenZParents #RelatableMomLife #ModernParenting #MomLifeLOL

Ever noticed how kids respond differently to the same thing? 😅 That’s birth order for you! Firstborns? Polite, careful, always thinking about what’s expected ✅ Middle children? Easy-going, sometimes in a rush, just go with the flow 😎 Youngest? Bold, opinionated, always wanting things their way…with a sprinkle of rudeness we need to watch out for 😏 This Friday, we’re serving some fun insight into family personalities, because understanding your child’s birth order can make all the difference in how you connect with them. “Gentle parenting” in the 80s & 90s meant you got sent to your room instead of a clip round the ear! Tantrums were met with “we don’t want to listen to that - take yourself out in the hall until you can calm down,” emotional outbursts were “attention-seeking,” and the gold standard of conflict resolution was “because I said so.” Fast-forward to 2025 and we’re all fighting for our lives trying to resist the urge to tell them to “pack it in” whilst trying to figure out how to teach “emotional safety” instead. We’re raising kids to regulate their nervous systems when most of our own went feral years ago! So here’s to the parents doing both: breaking cycles, healing their inner child, and still occasionally muttering “just do as you’re bloody well told” under their breath, just for old time’s sake. ☕️ #parenting #millenialparents #millenialmom #millenials #cyclebreakers #90skids #80skids #mumlife #mums

I believe every generation does a little better than the one before. Some parents truly did the best with what they had. Some gave everything they could and did a great job. This isn’t about resentment or blame. It’s about being the generation that creates the most change. We’re living through a time of massive transformation in technology, in the world, and in the way we build our homes and raise our kids. We are a generation of feelers. We feel every generational curse. We feel the drastic shift that children bring to our lives. And we feel the changes within ourselves as we work to become better. We understand the importance of our role as parents, and we’re putting in the work to get it right. Of course, we’re imperfect. But perfection was never the goal. Alongside all the technological advancements, I believe this generation will leave a mark on the future like no generation before us. “Do the best you can until you know better. Then when you know better, do better.” — Maya Angelou Keep showing up.

People from different generations have different views on motherhood because their decisions were shaped from different lived experiences and different collective trâuma 🕰️⌛️🤰🏿 🧓🏾Older Boomers worked to have the American Dream and they were in an age of consumption after the w@r which focused on boosting the economy and producing. This stemmed from their parents who went through w@r and economic uncertainty. Family discussions about planning were rare and you had kids because that’s what people did. Survival through offspring was prioritized especially in communities that faced challenges. Divorce was taboo and family traditions were honored fiercely. 💼👩🏽‍🍼Gen X was more into materialistic accumulation and competitive status. Gender roles were challenged and women began to enter the workforce in traditionally male industries. Marketing towards the working woman became more prominent and women wanted to have it all. This led to mothers who projected their competitive nature onto their children. 👩🏻‍💻🧑‍🧒‍🧒Millennials grew up in the age of internet knowledge so they search for a better life and meaning. They seek knowledge on how to heal and process trauma. Economy crashes and corporate greed led to high student loan debt. Access to more information on child psychology and development made them more worried about if they were raising resilient children. This may have contributed to a more gentle parenting style in some or a helicopter parenting style in others. Therapists were able to list services online so access to mental health is easier. 🤳🙅🏽‍♀️Gen Z grew up in the age of social media where they can find any community they want. They connect in a digital age as digital natives and are skeptical about having a family because the world’s bad news is constantly in front of them on their devices. They grow up knowing about the dânger online and are inundated with true crïme. They are outspoken about their mental health and deliberate about their choices to value their chosen community over their duty to fit a certain mold. *This video is not representing every single individual perspective. Generations are nuanced* Data taken from pew.
