Most developers are trying to manage their AI agents like junior interns. That’s the mistake. The real question isn’t “how do I control the agent?” It’s: what role should the human actually play? Because micromanaging an AI agent and coordinating AI agents are two completely different ways of building software. Right now a lot of people are sitting in Visual Studio Code watching every line their agent writes. But your agent can generate tens of thousands of lines of code a day. You were never going to read all of that anyway. → AI agents are closer to pilots than interns. → Your job isn’t flying the plane. → Your job is air traffic control. Agents already move faster than any human reviewing line-by-line. So you can either coordinate autonomous agents… Or keep micromanaging them while everyone else ships. Both approaches exist. But only one of them scales.
