I’ve worked hard on developing what I think is the best GM-focused immersive storytelling course out there! The first one’s called Physical Anchors. It’s about building characters instinctively from the body first and foremost, instead of “doing voices”. The second is Energy & Presence. I never thought I could be a DM - I thought that I wouldn't like it and I was so insecure about not knowing all of the rules. But, when I decided to run a one shot I realized just how much I LOVE running Dungeons and Dragons, and how much my players love my style of running the game. Now, I've been running a campaign for over a year and have started running games professionally, and running games is honestly one of my favorite things. Running D&D games has spilled over to all areas of my life. It really was the thing that brought back all my whimsy and love of fantasy. Sometimes you just have to go for something, and just maybe it'll end up changing your life. What's a belief that's holding you back from trying something new? And yep, I sometimes sacrifice following the rules to a t for the sake of fun and the games flow - but I'd rather not be correct about the rules than spend ten minutes looking up something small 🤷‍♀️

On this day of GM appreciation I wanted to share a reality that maybe you didnt know of, or sadly know all to well. This is me recording myself when I noticed I was on the cusp of a downward spiral after an event where I ran a one-shot. I was replaying the event, what my players said, did, their facial expressions, how I adapted the story to fit their styles managing time, how we laughed together and suddenly I realised my thoughts were becoming negative, twisting what actually happened into a harmful narrative. The thing is at the time I felt good vibes and after, I recieved amazing feedback and an invite to GM again at the next event. Even with all that external validation, the negative thoughts flood in, pretty much every time I do an event. So if you know how this feels, I'm sorry you don't see what I am sure your players see. And if this is the first time you've been made aware of this reality, be sure to remember how much work the person behind the screen may be doing so that you can have a good time.
