• Detour: Utilize other areas in your home. Take your kitchen outside by utilizing a grill, freeing up your kitchen space for serving food, drinks, and people. Place a platter of my Brown Butter Chocolate Chip Cookies on a book shelf, or add a small bowl of spiced nuts to a hallway table.
• Declutter: Make the most of your square footage by giving away, stashing away, or throwing away unnecessary items. Empty your dishwasher ahead of time so that it’s ready to receive any used dinnerware. Or keep a laundry basket handy to collect used dishes and stash it in the bathtub until after your gathering🙃
• Do Over: Rethink and rearrange your furniture. Bring in extra chairs, remove your coffee table, and add extra pillows and folded blankets for floor seating. Don’t be afraid to move things around and keep surfaces clear for guests to set their drinks.
Most of all, remember this…
People just want to be invited in. Our friends and family desire to belong and feel included, which doesn’t require a mansion. Nor does it demand a perfectly styled space. You and I are the big warm welcome that turns any space into a gathering space.

LEI love hosting overnight guests and it doesn’t take much to make them feel extra cozy. Here are 5 simple tips to welcome guests and make them feel at home:
1. Have plenty of fresh clean towels. The fluffier the better!
2. Clear a space for them to put their things…a drawer, a basket, a shelf, whatever you’ve got!
3. Let your guests know you’ve been excited for their stay by setting out fresh flowers, a welcome note, or a small gift. (Books work great for this!)
4. Add a fan to their bedroom. Not only does this keep the air moving, but it adds white noise for light sleepers.
5. Create a cozy place for them to relax in their room. Chances are, they’ve traveled to get to your house, so who wouldn’t want to kick their feet up for a few minutes?
These simple tips will make your guests feel at home and want to come back again and again!
