SHI’ve been using a Kindle forever and I was lucky enough to win a Kobo from @libbyapp_anz! I’ve been using both devices for a couple weeks, here are my thoughts. 💭

🧠 MEMORY/STORAGE 🧠

Regardless of space available on the model, the Kindle after setup only has 1.79GB taken, whereas the Kobo uses 3.54GB just to set up.
🎧 AUDIOBOOKS 🎧

Kobo plays audiobook using Bluetooth and Kindle doesn’t. I’m not a big AB reader but when I do it chews through my phone battery so this could be a big pro for some people.

THIS has been the main reason I’ve been considering switching to Kobo. In Australia we can’t access Libby with a Kindle and I hate reading ebooks on a phone screen. note: if you have several library cards, you can only log in with one at a time so you need to switch between them.

Ghosting and lag is expected and both models have moments where it might take a second to turn a page. I found the Kobo regularly doesn’t respond to a page turn - so you try again and it turns 2 pages. This happens 2-3 times for every hour that I read.
👓 ACCESSIBILITY 👓
Both models have great options for screen brightness, font and text size. I do find changing these settings is quicker on the Kindle but not enough to sway me one way or the other.

This is easy. @netgalley is designed with Kindles in mind and 99% of the time you can send it to your device with one click. To send NG books to a Kobo, you need a computer to download a program and plug your Kobo in to copy the file over. If anyone would like me to show this process I can.

I charged my Kobo once 2+ weeks ago and it’s 75% full. I don’t use it as much as my Kindle but still daily. My Kindle needs a charge every week with daily use. Both charge in an hour.
My conclusion is I actually think the @kobobooks Libra would be the *perfect* ereader for me!! I’m just scared to invest and regret it. 💰😵💫
