WHTook the crew to a brand new spot in Lowell, right on University Ave called @maqs.eats ! I’ve had a few people tell me I need to come check this one out. Maq’s also reached out and joined my giveaway a month ago. The owner, Ross, always wanted to open his own shop. He’s got a passion for it. He was into graphic designing before opening and it shows. The restaurant is very graphic, very vibrant. The slide show on his tv is awesome too. He specializes in chicken (both tenders & sandwiches), Detroit style pizza, sides & desserts. On Saturdays he offers a bbq menu with brisket, pork belly & more. I didn’t even know that until we came. Good thing we decided to come on a Saturday, huh?
Ross wanted us to try a little of everything. We had damn near enough food to feed Umass Lowell. We did however take a bite of everything. He got a hot lemon pepper chicken that’ll amaze you the way it amazed me. Great chicken sandwich, lots of flavor. The Mac & cheese bowl to me is the highlight of the meal. I think Frank & Lou would agree too. The marinade on that pork belly/burnt end was out of this freaking world! He said he puts cherry Coke in the marinade and that what gives it that candy like sweet taste. Insane. I would go back there just for that. Come try out Maq’s in Lowell! It’s worth it. I feel this place will take off, he might have a chain of them before you know it! Great work Ross, pleasure meeting you.
