Meshtastic is ASS. And unfortunately a popular buzzword used by the community. — Unlike most people on the internet, I actually test things before I bring them to your attention. After wasting thousands of dollars standing up a top tier Meshtastic network, I became sorely dissatisfied with the performance of Meshtastic. All the benefits do not outweigh the cons of inconsistent packet delivery. It is not a viable option for grid down comms. — You are better off training a carrier pigeon than trying to stand up a reliable Meshtastic network. — Open source has its place but, Meshtastic clearly demonstrates the benefit of closed source, with paid developers who actually give a sh*t about the performance of what they are developing. I encourage you to not waste your money, but, try it out for yourself. Just don’t be shocked when less than half the time your messages get delivered. — The good news? There are other alternatives. I don’t care what your favorite influencer said. You can’t skip the fundamentals.
