NEAdam Richard Sandler, born on September 9, 1966, in Brooklyn, New York City, is a well-known American actor, comedian, filmmaker, and singer. He is best recognized for his work as a leading comedic actor in Hollywood and has become one of the most successful entertainers in the film industry.
Sandler was raised in Manchester, New Hampshire, after his family moved there when he was six years old. He comes from a Jewish family with roots tracing back to Russian Jewish immigrants. His mother, Judith “Judy” Sandler, worked as a nursery school teacher, while his father, Stanley Sandler, was an electrical engineer. He has three older siblings: Scott, Elizabeth, and Valerie. Adam completed his schooling at Manchester Central High School and later graduated from New York University’s Tisch School of the Arts in 1988 with a bachelor’s degree in acting.
Adam Sandler began his entertainment career in the late 1980s. In 1987, he appeared on The Cosby Show as Smitty, a friend of Theo Huxtable, and also took part in the MTV game show Remote Control. His film debut came in 1989 with Going Overboard. Around the same time, he started performing in comedy clubs, where his natural comic talent quickly gained attention. He was discovered by comedian Dennis Miller, who recommended him to Lorne Michaels, the producer of Saturday Night Live (SNL).
