EMThis was my most asked question of 2025.. on job sites, comment section, DMs, you name it. So here it is:
Every mural is different so each quote is different. I price my art based on the square footage of the wall and factor in additional expenses where needed, (travel, supplies, etc.). Each wall varies in their own size, surface, and limitations, so often times I price on the lower end of $ square footage if the wall is easier to paint. Whereas, painting a wall with more road blocks or challenges, I’d price it on the higher end of price per square foot. (This same rule can apply to how elaborate a design will be. Simple=cheaper , Detailed=Expensive)
If you’re interested in a mural or pricing a mural yourself, know that this how *I* price my murals, as this may be different from how other muralist price their work. Do your research before either hiring a muralist on what you should budget, (typically I suggest having a MINIMUM of $3k ready to go for a smaller scale wall).
