PIIconic things to do if you are a new stitcher
1. Large projects are more economical in the long run because of finishing and allow you to practice basketweave until you can do it in your sleep or try lots of different stitches in one project
2. Stitch nights are so fun! You can of course make friends, get inspired, ask questions and learn lots
3. I cannot stitch at night without a special lamp especially when doing dark colors-save your eyes and get one at the beginning
4. Decorative stitches add interest and texture, make a project go faster and keep you interested in stitching over time
5. Take your time! When I first started stitching I raced through as many canvases as possible. Now I love to savor and plan out lots of details for each canvas-plus it’s more economical.
6. Find the fibers you love and more importantly hate! This is trial and error but it’s no fun stitching an entire project with a fiber you can’t stand. You also realize how much sheen and texture the right fiber can add to a canvas almost as much as stitch.
