DRA perforated eardrum means there’s a hole or tear in the thin membrane that separates the outer ear from the middle ear (the tympanic membrane). If they’re large, they often are easy to see…but if they’re small, it can be tricky! 👂 🔬
🔍 How do perforations happen in the first place?
✈️ Sudden pressure changes (barotrauma)
🔊 Loud sounds (acoustic trauma)
🦠 Infections (especially repeated or severe middle ear infections)
❌ Injury (like cotton swab use or trauma)
🧼 Foreign objects or even a slap to the ear
🩺 How is it treated?
Most small perforations heal on their own with time. If they’re large do jot heal; however, a few strategies can be employed!
🏆 If you or your family physician is not sure if there is a perforation, a hearing test is a good place to start!
🩹 Paper patching: In-clinic procedure to help close small holes
🛠️ Surgery (tympanoplasty): For larger or persistent perforations
➡️ During healing: Keep the ear dry and avoid inserting anything into the canal!!
📣 Bottom line:
Don’t ignore changes in hearing or drainage from your ear. A simple exam can help determine if you have a perforation — and most are very treatable!

OW4 years later… #ɴᴇᴠᴇʀɢɪᴠᴇᴜᴘ 🙏🏽 This is what walking 24 hours after surgery looks like 💪🏽
NG tube in place, pain meds maxed out…I’d be lying if I said this last colorectal surgery I had in 2021 was easy. I was in Pittsburgh getting ready to speak at a conference and bam, the waves of nausea came on so hard that I knew my bowels were obstructing to the max.
I was rushed into surgery as the surgeons and gastroenterologists in Pittsburgh had located exactly where I was obstructing (behind my loop #ileostomy at the site of a side to side #anastomosis).
They also identified why I had been having so much pain in the lower left quadrant of my pelvis: I apparently had bowel tethered to my uterus and bladder from #endometriosis, causing #obstructions and risking a #fistula, #perforation and/or #sepsis if I were to travel back home.
It was a sea of emotions running through me. Even though my #Crohns had been in #remission, I needed surgery due to surgical complications, scar tissue, and endometriosis, a diagnosis I didn’t even know I had.
It was one of the toughest surgeries yet, but with the support of my partner, Anand, and amazing friends like @loriplung @ruchitadunung, I was able to get through it 😻♥️
And it was this surgery that ultimately got me off #disability, allowed me to finish grad school, and get back on my feet again to take the reins of @saia.gi @ibdesis 💖

DRAppendix perforation is a complication of Appendicitis.

👉Wall discontinuity.
👉Right iliac fossa collection / abscess .
👉Hyperechoic thickend surrounding fat or phlegmon in association with signs of appendices inflammation .
👉Contrast enhanced CT is most accurate for evaluation .

🔎 A perforated gastric ulcer is a life-threatening condition requiring urgent diagnosis! Key ultrasound findings include:
✅ Free intraperitoneal air with echogenic foci and reverberation artifacts
✅ Free fluid in the abdomen, often around the stomach and liver
✅ Thickened or irregular gastric wall at the ulcer site

SPIs it true that the sealer puff contributes to failure of root canal treatment ?? Possible reason for these findings are
1. The resorption of the root apex in established apical periodontitis cases means these cases have a higher failure rate due to the long standing disease rather than sealer which extrudes through the apex
2. Sealers are generally cytotoxic and can cause inflammation and slow healing
3. Over preparation may lead to a sealer puff and the over prep causes damage to apical tissues
4. Over prep may prevent good apical seal
Does anyone know any other possible reasons? Sealer puffs are generally not a big issue in my opinion but I don’t aim for them

AAPerforations (or “perfs”) are the tiny rectangular holes along the edges of a film strip.
They serve a purely mechanical purpose to help the camera, projector, and film transport systems grab and move the film precisely through their mechanisms.
Think of them like gear teeth that the camera’s sprocket wheel hooks onto to pull the film frame by frame.
The sprocket wheel has teeth that fit perfectly into these holes.
Each time the film advances, those sprockets pull it by one frame using the perfs.
Between each movement, the film pauses briefly this is when the shutter opens and exposes a single frame.
That stop-start motion (driven by these tiny holes) is why film cameras are loud it’s a mechanical process happening dozens of times per second.
