That's exactly the reflection that the Greek philosopher Plato presented in the famous Allegory of the Cave, described in his work The Republic. In the story, people are trapped inside a cave since birth. They can only see the shadows projected on the wall and believe that this is reality.
Until a prisoner is freed. When he leaves the cave, he discovers something shocking: the real world is much bigger than the shadows he saw. But the most impressive thing happens when he returns to tell the others… They don't believe him. Plato used this metaphor to show something profound: often people prefer to remain in ignorance because facing the truth can be uncomfortable.
This allegory raises a question that remains relevant today: Are you seeing reality… or just its shadows?
