Not gonna lie before I knew there was an order I prayed my teacher had forgotten the knee stretches! It took me months to discover they always came towards the end. When you’re the most warmed up and exhausted. I believe the more people understood the spine shapes and the emphasis there might be a bit more love for the series. Not saying they’ll be a favorite! Focus on closing the spring vs opening Be mindful of body weight being evenly split vs all on arms@lr legs. Push from legs vs arms BREATHE! Quality over quantity If you want to nerd out over the knee stretches checkout the rest of my @opc.pilates tour powered by @balanced_body! A common question - “do you my pilates workouts count as strength training?” Answer: yes and no. Pilates was never designed to build bigger muscles — and that’s exactly why it’s so often misunderstood. It isn’t meant to completely challenge your big muscle groups, reach the point of muscle failure, or build a significantly amount of new lean muscle tissue. When Pilates is judged by the ability to build a lot of muscle, its true purpose gets lost. Pilates was created to develop strength through:
• control over momentum
• precision over endless repetition
• breath supporting movement
• flow and coordination
• training the nervous system for efficiency Pilates absolutely builds strength — just not the kind measured by muscle size. What people actually experience:
• improved posture and alignment
• deeper body awareness
• fewer aches and injuries
• stronger, more stable movement
• a calmer, more connected nervous system This is why people fall in love with Pilates🥰 Not because it burns the most calories —
but because their body feels better, moves better, and functions better. Pilates doesn’t replace the gym or true progressive overload strength training, but it does give your body the foundation to train well for the long term.
