H.265 is the next step up. It’s more efficient, allowing for higher-quality video like 10-bit and even 12-bit footage with smaller file sizes. But there’s a trade-off: H.265 files are more compressed, which can make them harder for your computer to handle unless you have hardware that supports decoding it.
In simple terms:
• H.264: Reliable and easy to work with.
• H.265: Better quality and smaller files, but can slow down your workflow without the right setup.
