What feels counterintuitive is precise physics and chemistry. About 95% of a tree’s dry mass comes from carbon dioxide in the air, not soil. Through photosynthesis, powered by sunlight, trees transform CO₂ and water into wood. Soil contributes mainly minerals typically less than 5% of total biomass. A 100-ton tree gains nearly all its mass from invisible gas.
Photosynthesis stores solar energy in chemical bonds about 2,870 kJ per glucose molecule. A mature tree fixes roughly 25 kg of carbon each year, while plants globally fix around 120 billion tons annually, driven by the sun’s 173,000 terawatts of incoming energy over 10,000× humanity’s current energy use.
When wood burns, it releases stored sunlight. Around 90% of a log’s mass returns to the air as CO₂ and water vapor, while only 1–2% remains as ash—the small mineral fraction from soil. A single cubic meter of wood once occupied over 1,800 cubic meters of atmosphere. Trees are not made of earth they are solidified air, shaped by light and time.

So you could say that rehabilitation from back injury/pain is incomplete without vestibular work.
The interesting thing is, you don’t have to have a vestibular problem for vestibular training to help your back pain. But often, what you will find is that people with long existing back pain do have vestibular problems.
your vestibular system is your compass for understanding which way is up, which way you are going and what kind of posture is needed. If the compass is not balanced, you won’t be either! In which case your low back muscular imbalances that you’re told are the cause of your back pain, are not actually muscle problems. They’re vestibular problems! Realign the compass and the body will start to follow!
