We’re sharing this as a warning to other propane users.
There are only two of us in our household, and historically one propane tank would last us anywhere from 3 to 6 months depending on how often we used it.
But over the last 9 months, we’ve had to purchase propane tanks much more frequently than normal. During that time we purchased multiple tanks from different AmeriGas locations, and several of them didn’t seem to contain the amount of propane they should have.
Most recently, we bought a tank on February 1, 2026, and then had to buy another one again on February 22, 2026.
At that point we thought we might have had a leak somewhere, so we even purchased a brand-new propane tank to rule that out.
When we weighed the tank, it only contained about 3.3 pounds of propane.
For reference:
A properly filled 20-lb propane tank should weigh about 38–39 pounds total (tank plus propane).

We’re sharing this experience so other customers can double-check their tanks before leaving the store and make sure they are actually getting what they paid for.

OFThis is the PiggyPower Cell 125, and in this video I’m using it to power a small Bitcoin lottery miner using nothing more than a standard propane tank like the kind you’d normally hook up to a backyard barbecue.
The miner is obviously a small load just to demonstrate the concept. The PiggyPower Cell 125 can actually produce up to 125 watts if you turn the flame up higher and push the system harder, but for this video I kept it simple so people can clearly see how it works.
The setup itself is extremely straightforward. For cooling I literally just used a 5 gallon bucket of water and a garden hose, and that was basically it. Once the hot side is heated and the cooling side is flowing, the system starts producing electricity. Heat on one side, cooling on the other, and the PiggyPower Cell converts that temperature difference directly into usable electrical power.
Also just to clear up a very common misconception, this is not a Peltier device. The PiggyPower Cell is a thermoelectric generator, designed specifically to convert heat into electricity efficiently and reliably. It’s built from the ground up for power generation rather than cooling applications.
The entire idea behind PiggyPower is recovering energy that would normally be wasted. Think about things like burners, stoves, generators, flue gas, or other steady heat sources that are already producing heat anyway. Instead of letting that energy disappear into the air, a portion of it can be captured and turned into usable electrical power.
For reference, a standard 20 lb propane tank theoretically contains enough energy to run a system like this for roughly 35–40 hours at full output, depending on flame settings and heat transfer.
Every PiggyPower kit includes the electronics needed to do everything you see here. The goal is simplicity. You just provide the heat source and the water cooling, and the system handles the rest.

ROBREAKING NEWS in Jacksonville, Florida
Authorities are investigating a powerful explosion that ripped through a two-story home in the Oak Valley subdivision late Tuesday evening. The blast, captured on a neighbor’s doorbell camera, originated in the attached garage and quickly engulfed the structure in flames, totaling a parked SUV parked in the driveway.
According to preliminary reports from the Jacksonville Fire and Rescue Department, the explosion was caused by a leaking propane cylinder stored near a water heater. Investigators believe the gas accumulated in the garage before being ignited when the heater cycled on.
Fire crews arrived within minutes but found the home fully involved. Two residents were treated for minor burns and smoke inhalation; both are expected to recover. The structure is considered a total loss.
Officials are urging residents to store propane and fuel canisters outdoors or in ventilated areas and to install gas leak detectors near potential ignition sources. The investigation remains ongoing.

STWhat you’re watching here is oxy-fuel flame cutting, performed by a semi-automatic track burner (sometimes called a cutting “bug”). Despite how violent it looks, this process is surprisingly controlled and scientifically elegant.
First, the steel is preheated using a fuel gas (commonly acetylene, propane, or natural gas) mixed with oxygen. The goal isn’t to melt the steel — it’s to raise it to its ignition temperature, around 870–950°C for carbon steel.
Once that threshold is reached, a high-pressure jet of pure oxygen is released. This triggers a rapid oxidation reaction:
iron + oxygen → iron oxide + heat
That reaction is exothermic, meaning the steel essentially burns itself, releasing additional heat that sustains the cut. The molten iron oxide is blown out of the kerf by the oxygen stream, leaving behind that clean, straight channel.
The “automation” here isn’t about intelligence — it’s about consistency.
The track ensures:
• constant cutting speed
• uniform oxygen flow
• stable torch height
• minimal human error
This is why oxy-fuel cutting excels at thick carbon steel plates (often 50–300+ mm thick), where lasers or plasma become inefficient or expensive.
One important limitation: this only works on ferrous metals that oxidize readily. Stainless steel, aluminum, and copper? Totally different physics — totally different tools.
Industrial fabrication often looks chaotic, but under the hood it’s pure applied science — chemical kinetics, heat transfer, and materials engineering working together in real time.
