This week’s @boardgameprotohype theme is “Individual” so I thought it would be fun to look at an individual component - the plane token. There’s two types of flying machine in Sky Relief, big ol’ planes that can drop up to 6 cargo, and drone that can drop 4 but get there faster. Each type has two forms - single cargo (they can only drop 1 type), multi cargo (the cab drop multiple types). The current iteration of Sky Relief is fully coop and I’ll be testing it out in the Playtest Zone at @ukgamesexpo What would you fly? Planes or drones? This weeks’ theme for #BoardGameProtoHype is TENSION. This is a commonly heard word in board game design circles and can come in many forms. In it’s simplest form though it can be as straightforward as how cards are revealed. In D.O.T both players secretly play cards into a central pool. These cards could all be revealed at the same time but given both players are hoping for certain dots to appear, you can increase the “tension” of the reveal by revealing cards one by one. This helps add excitement as the balance of who is winning this round can swing back and forth until the final card is revealed. To get involved, create an instagram post that’s linked to the theme and share it using the hashtag.
