EM“What’s that up there?” 👆 That’s what I asked my local pet store manager as I was looking up at something out of place on the ceiling. It turned out to be a ball python that had escaped some weeks prior. Everyone in the store gathered around because none of us could believe how such a clumsy species of snake managed to get 12ft up with few climbing opportunities. This image has stayed with me for years, and since then I’ve never kept a ball python in anything less than a 4x2x2, but 4x2x4 is better for more climbing! And I’ve seen that ball pythons are actually not all that clumsy. They can build incredible muscle and become really adept climbers when you give them the opportunity to stretch out and climb.
