In the double-slit experiment, a particle passes through both paths at once when unobserved, creating an interference pattern. The moment we measure which path it took, that pattern vanishes and the particle behaves as if it chose only one slit. Even stranger, in delayed-choice versions of the experiment, measuring after the particle has already “passed through” still removes the interference, as if the particle’s earlier behavior was never split at all. Quantum mechanics does not just challenge what happens next. It challenges what already happened. Superposition: Massive Parallelism 🤯 A normal computer bit is like a light switch: it’s either ON (1) or OFF (0). A quantum bit, or qubit, is like a spinning coin. While it’s spinning, it’s not just heads or tails—it’s a combination of both at the same time. This “both-at-once” state is superposition. Because qubits can hold multiple values simultaneously, a quantum computer can explore millions of possibilities at once, providing a massive advantage for complex problems. Entanglement: A “Spooky” Connection 👻 Entanglement is a deep connection linking two or more qubits. Once entangled, the state of one qubit instantly affects the other, no matter how far apart they are. The evolution is implemented as a coherent unitary step plus local CPTP Kraus noise channels (dephasing + amplitude down/up), with Choi diagnostics exported as physicality sanity checks. A control daemon supports SPSA (GRAPE‑ish) pulse shaping, optimizing piecewise control knobs to jointly improve transmon subspace‑fidelity proxies and q‑datagram retention, while also balancing coherence/QFI/entanglement against penalties for memory‑loss current and operator‑complexity growth (OSEE). Non‑linearity / Boolean logic: Inspired by Lipka‑Bartosik et al. (Science Advances 2024), thermodynamic neurons are perceptron‑like and implement linearly separable Boolean functions, while XOR requires a network or feature lift. This repo includes (i) a logic self‑test where XOR as a single neuron is expected to fail, but a 3‑neuron network passes, and (ii) a physics‑wired non‑linear separator demo where “feature lift” adds an x⋅y feature (mathematically equivalent to a hidden unit / kernel feature). Extending from these demos to multi‑output Boolean algebra / richer non‑linear logic is a natural next step but would require code changes (multi‑output readout + training/objective wiring).
