R2D3 from California-based OpenDroids. So far he's not as cute as everyone's favorite droid from Star Wars, but he may soon become at least as useful. The robot can already do a lot of things. The developers are even positioning it as a super-assistant and selling it for a price of $40,000. R2D3 can navigate to a desired location on its wheeled base, and its pair of mechanical arms can allegedly do laundry, put away dishes, make you a smoothie, scoop ice cream, or dispense your medication. It probably requires separate programming or teleoperation for now, but we're all waiting for a breakthrough in robotics today and the imminent arrival of fully-fledged autonomous androids.
