Image Management Is Their Next Weapon When direct control fails, they try indirect control by manipulating how others perceive you. 3. They Need an Audience Manipulators need validation. They recreate a story where they are the hero or victim, and you are the villain. It keeps people emotionally aligned with them. 4. Lack of Accountability They deflect blame to avoid admitting mistakes. This can stem from: Fear of rejection or criticism Fragile self-esteem Learned behavior from upbringing or past trauma 3. Manipulation In some cases, playing the victim is a form of emotional manipulation.
