Switching to black and white makes your phone way less tempting. Try it for a day and see the difference! 2️⃣ Move distracting apps off your home screen – If you see Instagram, YouTube, or TikTok every time you unlock your phone, you’ll open them out of habit. Hide them in folders or delete them if possible. 3️⃣ Set app limits & use the “delay rule” – Set daily screen time limits for addictive apps. Also, when you feel the urge to check your phone, wait 10 seconds before unlocking it. Most of the time, the urge will pass! 4️⃣ Replace scrolling with something better – Instead of reaching for your phone, keep a book, journal, or even a stress ball nearby. Your brain needs a new habit to replace the old one. 5️⃣ Turn off notifications for non-essential apps – Every ping and vibration is a distraction. Go to settings and turn off notifications for anything that isn’t urgent (social media, shopping apps, etc.). 📵 Small changes = BIG results! If I can do it, so can you. Here’s 7 simple ways to reduce your screen time right now. 1- Track Your Screen Time: Start by gaining insights into your screen time habits. Use apps to monitor your daily activities. Identify the time spent on work, essential tasks & social media, 2- Opt for Single-Screen Focus Resist the temptation to juggle multiple screens simultaneously. Instead of scrolling through your phone while watching TV or working on your computer, prioritize a single-screen focus. 3 - Less Appealing Phones are powerful distractions, often triggering a dopamine response. Diminish the allure by switching your phone to grayscale, lowering brightness, or setting it to silent. 4 - Screen-Free Breaks Incorporate regular screen breaks into your workdays and longer breaks on days off. Set alarms every 30 minutes for work breaks, ensuring you step away from all screens. 5 - Old School Not every task requires a screen. Consider alternatives like phone calls instead of Zoom meetings and pen-and-paper notes over digital apps. 6 - Work Boundaries Define fixed working hours to prevent work from encroaching on personal time. If you do these 6 steps in order, your screen time drops without “willpower” 👇 ❌Delete the triggers (2 mins) Remove the 3 apps you open on autopilot. Not “later.” Now. (You can reinstall, your brain just needs the break.) 📱Add friction (30 secs) Turn on: grayscale + notifications OFF (except calls/text + calendar). Color+ pings are the addiction engine. 📲Move the phone (1 rule) Phone stays outside your bedroom and out of reach while working. If it’s within arm’s reach, you’ll touch it. 🔁Replace the hit (the swap list) Pick 3 tiny substitutes for the urge: water sip, 10 deep breaths, stand + stretch. 🪟Set 2 daily windows (freedom without relapse) Choose two scroll windows (ex: 12:30–12:45 + 8:30–8:50). Outside those windows = no feed apps. ⏰Track one number (make it a game) Write daily: Screen time + pickups. Try to beat yesterday by 5%. Small wins compound fast.
