A lot of people think resentment means they’re not healed yet. Most of the time it means you tried to forgive but nothing actually changed.
So your body keeps the score. You said it’s fine and meant it in your head but you didn’t get safety or repair, you didn’t get a different outcome.
Resentment comes back as a self protective warning. It’s the part of you saying if I fully let this go I’m agreeing to it happening again.
Forgiveness without change doesn’t bring peace, it brings vigilance and until something actually shifts, behavior, accountability, limits, your nervous system keeps you honest about whether you forgave too soon.
