👉🏼 This film could revolutionize the way we farm & eat 🚜🌰⁠ 🙏🏼 The Eat More Trees trailer is out! 💥 Time to make some IMPACT 💥🥳⁠ ⁠ We went around the world, from the Amazon rainforest to desertifying land in Spain and the USA.⁠ ⁠ You could see destruction everywhere.⁠ ⁠ But along those "scary" landscapes, we found islands of hope.⁠ ⁠ Farmers taking matters into their own hands 💪🏼⁠ ⁠ Not by "fighting against" something⁠ But rather, by collaborating with nature.⁠ ⁠ They show that by integrating trees & perennials on their farm, they:⁠ * Are more resilient against the climate crisis⁠ * Spread their risk⁠ * Make more money⁠ * Store more carbon⁠ * Literally cool the planet (because trees sweat)⁠ * Boost nature⁠ * and their landscapes become prettier⁠ ⁠ 🌱 The film is done! According to the mission of their certified regenerative family farm in North Dakota, healthy soil means healthy grain with nutrient density and diversity:�� “By improving the soil, the soil will take care of our faith, our environment, our community, and ourselves. We accomplish this through regenerative farming. It began with a phone call… a call that blazed a trail to multiple films (and ground-breaking research) about farmers regenerating their soil with cattle. The farmers and ranchers we have filmed over the years regenerate their soils with practices that make their animals healthier and their operations more profitable. Robust soils enable rainwater to sink into the earth rather than run off; and retain that water, so the ranches are much more resilient in drought. Want to learn more? 🚨❤️‍🔥NEW UPCOMING DOCUMENTARY❤️‍🔥🚨 I am so excited to announce the world premiere of The Great Northern’s first original documentary, “Rooted: Stories from Minnesota’s Farming Future.” It was an honor to work on this project as the Producer and Impact Lead. In this short documentary, three Minnesota farmers share the true effort, passion, and resilience behind their work that drives small-scale agriculture in the Upper Midwest. Rooted is a love letter to land stewardship and climate resilience, reminding us that local solutions can respond to global challenges and model a more sustainable food future for all. There will be special premiere screening at @themaincinema followed by a panel discussion featuring Director and Producer Liz Tracy and Onesmus Mutio (a farmer featured in Rooted), moderated by Jothsna Harris (Founder, Change Narrative LLC). Post-screening reception with Chowgirls Catering and O’Shaughnessy Distilling Co. ROOTED is made possible by the generous support of Eastside Food Co-Op, Wedge Community Co-Op, Seward Community Co-Op, Sustainable Farming Association, Red Star Rentals, Farm Aid, and FilmNorth.

When the average herd size is 38, you can see regenerative grazing can be an option for everyone - even if there’s still work to be done on other parts of the supply chain.

This week, we turn the "Doing the Work" spotlight on Dr. Jonathan Lundgren. Dr. Lundgren is an agroecologist, executive director of Ecdysis Foundation, and CEO for Blue Dasher Farm in South Dakota. Lundgren’s research and education programs are helping applied science evolve in ways that foster the evolution of a regenerative food system. Through their Thousand Farms Initiative research project, his priorities is to re-envision how science is conducted to help fuel a revolution in regenerative agriculture. Dr. Lundgren, who started his career advocating for pollinators through research on pesticide-related population declines, is also a farmer and owner of Blue Dasher Farm in South Dakota. He spoke at the 2024 and 2025 Advancing Food is Medicine conferences, and contributed his voice to a short documentary produced by Think Regeneration in 2025. “What we’re risking is so great, and what we’re asking farmers is so great, an event like this really charges our batteries," he says in the clip above. This piece is a part of a nine-part "Doing the Work" series spotlighting the people inspiring the 2026 Advancing Food is Medicine program in Edmond, Oklahoma, Oct. 20-21, 2026.
