The sheer disconnect is shocking.
When the rupee weakens like this, it’s not just a number on a screen. It directly hits every Indian household. Fuel prices rise, imported goods become expensive, inflation quietly eats into savings, and the common man pays the price. From students studying abroad to small businesses relying on imports, everyone feels the burden.
And yet, instead of accountability, we get denial.
This is the same government that once made the rupee a political issue when it crossed ₹60. Back then, it was called a sign of “economic mismanagement.” Today, at ₹95, we are told everything is “theek.” What changed? The economy or the narrative?
Under the leadership of Narendra Modi, promises of a strong economy and global dominance were made repeatedly. But today, the reality is a weakening currency, rising inflation, and increasing pressure on the middle class.
A falling rupee reflects deeper economic concerns — trade imbalance, capital outflows, rising import dependency, and lack of strong structural reforms. You cannot spin these facts with statements in Parliament. People are living this reality every day.
India deserves honesty, not optics. Leadership means accepting challenges and fixing them, not pretending everything is fine while the economy struggles.
