OOOMG I’m on fire with these two machines.
Im recording a lot of cool stuff these days with just Octatrack and Avalon. It’s super hard to stop and multitrack it because I love how easy and satisfying it is to just perform for hours.
I just found out how great the comb filter sounds thanks to master @eraldobernocchi , don’t know why I never used it before.
And I know, I should be at ADE playing some of this things, but I am too underground for that. I only plays at obscure birthdays parties.
Headphones mandatory for this one!

JAUsing 2 @intellijel metropolix sequencers is a delightful way to pass the afternoon.

only carry on reading if you’re into modular. It will be so dull otherwise.
Tech stuff starts now.
I’ve been using midi program changes to both metropolix units (although I don’t show that here) which allows me to stay in loopy mode and get these sweet overlapping and endless arpy worlds to swim in.
I like having a master tempo knob and also putting both units into RUN-C so they stop and start mid sequence. By triggering a program change they lock back in. There’s so many ways to make 2 of these talk. I wanted to archive a little of this as I’m about to tear it down and replace with an iPad, loopy pro and ES10 based setup so I can do a show mid December and have a mic in, way to loop the voice and process via modular. I’ll likely run into the usual latency issues but i like the idea of having the modular all go to a sound card so i can use the balanced line outs to FOH. Portable. Feels like cheating to use an iPad but loopy is such a great looper. It’ll likely be the iPad, apc, modular and audio fuse to es10 via ADAT.

…make the patterns a bit weird / lopsided, run multiple sequences at the same time of different lengths so things phase in and out with one another… for those of you who use sequencers a lot in your practice, what’s your go-to approach?

ITI am working on a new experimental analog audio-visual live concept. Of course no computers are used. This setup here not even uses neither midi date nor midi connection. Everything you hear comes from the interal sequencers of the machines. Some of the material i pre programmed, other stuff is created live on the fly. Even the visuals, which are manipulated by the music machines, are provided live by the help of an old VHS camcorder.
Disclaimer: This live concept has nothing to do with my club / festival live act. 😉
