RESimu Liu is responding to uproar around a recent segment of @cbcdragon which featured the Quebec-based brand @bobbaofficiel.
According to Liu, the entrepreneurs behind Bobba, along with fellow dragons on the show, have been receiving death threats, harassment and bullying, following the segment’s viral moment on social media.
In a video response posted to TikTok, the “Barbie” star says while we should talk about cultural appropriation, we shouldn’t cross the line by threatening the safety of others.
“I just don’t want the legacy of this segment to be pitchforks and people fearing for their safety,” he said. “I think we’re starting to lose the plot of what ultimately the positive energy of this is which is let’s educate people, let’s make the world a better place, let’s make people aware that certain things aren’t okay from a cultural perspective.”
Liu also noted that the show, producers and crew were “so supportive” of what he had to say, and that in the break room, his fellow dragons were “all ears” towards his perspective.
