Anxiety is ENERGY⚡️Trying to figure out why you feel anxious, or talk yourself into calming down will never release its charge. You know this though, I bet you’ve tried like we all do! In fact, these approaches often agitate us even more because fighting it our solving it doesn’t actually address the root of anxiety as an energy. Energy wants to move not be reasoned with or intellectualized away. Instead we need to give our bodies an outlet to experience and express the built up energy and stress hormones and expel itself. Here are 3 great body-based practices to ease out of the sympathetic nervous system’s fight/flight mobilization response. 1️⃣Spinal Twisting 2️⃣Full body Bouncing 3️⃣Butterfly Tapping These are safe, contained ways to move through this built up energy, break it up, and discharge its stuck intensity, naturally allowing you to settle down a bit. These practices will naturally calm the nervous system bringing you back into the present moment. After you practice, notice how you feel. You might only feel slightly better, maybe only 1%, but that’s actually all it takes, one step at a time. We cannot expect to go from chronic dysregulation to a zen buddha over night! These are also great practices to do before an Internal Family Systems parts work session if you are coming into a session particularly overwhelmed and flooded with anxiety. After practicing, you’ve created enough space and distinction between you and the emotion so that you can then begin to approach the the part of you carrying the anxiety and ask it what it wants to tell you. If you’re interested in learning more about my IFS somatic parts work work, DM me and we can set up a free discovery call to get to know one another 🌞🍃 #somatichealing #somaticmovement #somaticexperiencing #somatics #somaticpartswork #partswork #ifs #intuitivemovement #anxietytips #anxietysupport #healinganxiety #anxietyrelief #nervoussystemhealing #ifstherapy #internalfamilysystems #anxietyrelief #anxietyrecovery #selfcompassion #innerjourney #innerwork

You might watch this and wonder, what’s actually happening here? I understand if it feels unsettling to watch. I’ve been there before too. But then I learned about implicit memory, the kind stored in the body, not the mind. These memories live in our muscles, fascia, tissues and organs. Not everything we carry is conscious. Jaw tension can come from years of holding your voice. Shoulder pain from carrying too much too young. The hips and psoas often store trauma that’s never had space to move. We’re so connected to our minds that we forget, our thoughts are shaped by the nervous system! That’s why healing through the body (bottom - up therapy) is so powerful. Because so many of us aren’t living in the present We’re stuck in old cycles, just waiting for release. ⚡ This is your sign to listen inward. #spinalenergetics #somatichealing #nervoussystemregulation #implicitmemory #bodytherapy #fasciarelease #psoashealing #mindbodyconnection #bottomuphealing #emotionalrelease #healingjourney #traumaawareness #innerhealing #presentmoment

These exercises, and dozens more, are some of the simple experiential practices that we do every week in the body first healing program’s somatic resource and reset call, a.k.a. the nervous system gym. Your body was innately built and hardwired for healing, wholeness, and regulation. Rediscover the incredible tools and capacity that lie within. Join me in the body-first healing program 🤎 Give these a try and let me know how they land! **Note: somatic practices should not be used as a way to BYPASS the very natural and often necessary somatic experiences of the body. Rather, we should use them in moments when our experiences feel intolerable, as a way to bring down high activation. We bring in these practices or resources to regulate our experience, keep it manageable, then process through the body. Every somatic practice will land differently with each unique body and nervous system. Please modify according to your personal needs. Ready for a nervous system deep dive? Teaching a somatic workshop online this Sunday ~ tickets in bio🤲 When everything feels like too much, your body doesn’t need more thinking - it needs support 🤍 No, these do not remove overwhelm, anxiety, etc. but these tools can help you feel, and return to yourself when you’d rather dissociate or freeze up. When you‘re alone with racing thoughts and no one is there to co regulate. These easy somatic practices help regulate your nervous system and bring you back into safety: 1. Fronto-occipital hold One hand on your forehead, one on the back of your head. This simple hold connects your thinking brain with your emotional brain, helping you process overwhelm and come back into clarity. Stay here, breathe slowly, and let your system settle. 2.Butterfly taps Cross your arms over your chest and gently tap your shoulders, left-right-left. This bilateral stimulation helps your nervous system discharge stress and creates a sense of grounding and containment. Go slow, like a soft rhythm your body can trust. 3.Child’s pose with lazy arms Come into child’s pose and let your arms hang, completely relaxed. This posture signals safety to your body, gently decompresses your spine, and allows your system to downshift. Let gravity hold you. Visualize your thoughts sinking from your forehead into the earth 4.Self hug Wrap your arms around yourself and gently squeeze. Feel the warmth and pressure: a reminder that you are here. You might sway a little or take deeper breaths as your body softens. 🤍 #somatictherapy #embodiedhealing #nervoussystem #integrationwork #traumainformed #bodybasedhealing #healingthebody #somaticexperiencing #psychospiritual #depthwork #healingarts #medicinework #presencepractice #feltssense #therapeuticprocess #energywork #nervoussystemregulation #healing

Our bodies hold onto life’s experiences - the joy, the hurt, the uncertainty, all of it lives within our tissues and nervous system. Sometimes, these stored memories and emotions need a gentle pathway for release. Just as we cleanse our physical space, our body too yearns for moments of conscious unwinding. Trauma release isn’t about reliving our past - it’s about creating a safe space for our body to naturally let go of what no longer serves us. Like waves washing over sand, this practice allows tension to dissolve at its own pace, bringing us back to our natural state of flow and ease. Step 1: Begin by creating your safe sanctuary. Find a quiet space and lie back, bringing your feet together in butterfly pose. Gently lift your hips into a bridge position, holding this activation for 1-3 minutes. This gentle tension awakens the body’s natural wisdom. Step 2: As you lower your hips, allow yourself to completely soften. This is where the magic happens - your body might begin to move on its own, releasing held tension through natural tremors. Stay here for 5-30 minutes, knowing that even stillness is part of the process. Step 3: With legs extended, enter a space of pure observation. This is your time to receive whatever surfaces - whether it’s memories floating up, sensations moving through, or emotions asking to be felt. There’s no right or wrong way to experience this moment. Step 4: Finally, wrap yourself in gentle care. This deep release work deserves tender aftercare. Take time to ground, regulate, and ease back into your day. You’ve just done powerful inner work - honor that with extra kindness toward yourself. 💫 Remember: This is profound healing work. Always move at your own pace and trust your body’s wisdom. I will be sharing healing exercises like this in my new Shadow Work Book, comment YES or dm me your email to be added to the waitlist to receive the link once it goes on sale. ❤️ #traumahealing #somaticwork #selfhealing #innerwork #healingjourney #embodiment #holistichealing #selfcare #shadowwork #holistichealth #healing #healingjourney #childhoodtrauma #traumarelease #letgoofthepast #loveyourself

Here’s the method! 👇🏼 But first, comment ALIVE to join us inside the live 12 week experience for reshaping our nervous system beginning TOMORROW at 10am PDT. Okay so this method is one I’ve used for years and it first came to me by accident in a moment that I needed it most. I now use it almost every day. If you’re navigating a stressful day, and overwhelming season or just feel like there hasn’t been space for your body to fully let go, try this: Let yourself lean back in your chair or lay on the ground, let your entire body be fully supported. Notice how there is no immediate danger in your environment, how right now there is nothing needing you to mobilize or respond (even if for only 60 seconds) Then, say internally to your body “there is nothing I need to respond to right now” “there is nothing I need to respond to right now”. Let it land in your body. Let your nervous system sense how in this moment, even for 20 seconds, nothing needs you, there’s nothing so urgent that you have to respond to it right now. Feel the relief in your body. Let your system connect back to presence. And sense how your current environment and moment is safe. Breathe here for a minute or two, allowing your body to drop into the surface beneath you and get heavy. You can do this anytime of the day. Small, simple, subtle practices like this one move the needle much more than big practices when done consistently. The body needs consistency, and it need to be met and held. That’s what this practice offers a taste of. This practice along with many others, is inside your curriculum inside of Attune to You. This isn’t just a program, it’s an experience that shows your nervous system a new reality can now be safe. That the past no longer has to determine the present. And that what you’re experiencing is allowed to exist. You’ll build a relationship with your body that grounds you in self trust and propels you into the life that you crave, because you’re no longer in survival. This 12 week experience begins tomorrow. 11 live seasons with me, embodied practice, community support, lifetime curriculum access and more. Comment ALIVE to join us 🤍

What you’re watching is a somatic release. When you experience trauma, your nervous system goes into survival mode - fight, flight, freeze, or fawn. Sometimes that energy gets STUCK in your body because you couldn’t fight or flee in the moment. Your nervous system holds onto it, waiting for safety to release it. This is why you can understand your trauma intellectually but still FEEL it in your body. • The tightness in your chest • The knot in your stomach • The tension in your shoulders • The constant hypervigilance Talk therapy helps you understand what happened. Somatic work helps your nervous system complete the cycle and RELEASE what got stuck. A dysregulated nervous system keeps you: • On edge or numb • Unable to feel safe even when you are • Stuck in old patterns • Reliving the past in your body Somatic release allows your body to: • Discharge stored survival energy • Return to regulation • Feel safety again • Complete what couldn’t be completed then The shaking, trembling, or spontaneous movement you see here? That’s her nervous system finally feeling safe enough to let go. This is real healing. Not just understanding your trauma - releasing it from where it lives: your body. Your body keeps the score. And your body knows how to heal when given the space. #somatichealing #traumarelease #nervoussystem #hypnotherapy #somatictherapy #traumahealing #healingjourney #sensoryenergetics #polyvagaltheory #nervoussystemregulation #somaticexperiencing #bodymindhealing#plantmedicine

I learnt these movements yesterday from my somatic bodywork practitioner, Claire Graziano @in_well_being_somatictherapies . After an amazing session of fascial release, she showed me some simple somatic movements to help mobilize stuck sympathetic nervous system energy. (Louise here btw, I’m the social media manager for Primal Trust in case you wondered who the heck is appearing on the PT account! 😆) When we feel anxiety, worry, or fear we often say we feel “jittery”. It can be really hard to know where to go with these feelings as you just want to escape them! And there’s a clue in that… because on the somatic level of our body, we want to run. It’s the “flight” part of the fight/flight response. If you have a chronic illness or fatigue, it’s not easy to get up and go for a run or find another big way to move, but this technique really helps. The bilateral movement acts out the “running” response that our body wants us to do, but in a gentler way. The second movement is bouncing your feet and legs up and down. This helps to release fight energy, which is great when you feel angry, frustrated, or like your boundaries have been crossed. We really need healthy ways to move this energy through our body so it doesn’t settle and start creating symptoms and pain. You will most likely be feeling either anxious or angry, so performing one or the other of these is the norm. Finishing with a few deep breaths will help release a nice boost of oxytocin into your system, relaxes your muscles and helps to self-soothe after a period of stress. Give it a go and let us know if you found this helpful! #primaltrust #somatics #somaticmovement #somatictherapy #somaticbodywork #fascialrelease #fightflightfreeze #fightflight #anxietyrelief #tensionrelease #stressmanagement #selfregulation #selfregulationskills #selfregulate #nervoussystem #nervoussystemregulation #nervoussystemhealing
