Personally I can't recommend picking up tarantulas. It's been 4 months now since I got bitten and I still have pain. It started immediately after the bite, the worst pain I ever felt. 2nd day the pain was more or less gone but then I had painful severe cramps for 3 days. I was bitten in the finger but now 4 months later I sometimes have pain in my leg. It comes in rushes 2 weeks nothing and then suddenly my legs feels like a knife is stuck inside. . . . #wildlife #nature #jungle #spider #asia

Being held in high regard for its potentially devastating necrotic effects caused by its venomous bite, the Brown Recluse (Loxosceles reclusa) usually has people stay clear from its presence. Me however, I wanted to experience what a bite from my female Brown Recluse would feel like, and also, how its venom would react with my flesh. Despite being equipped with fangs and venom to defend itself, this particular recluse chose the pacifist route and decided to spared me. Despite this one isolated experience that I got to record, it really goes against the stigma that all Brown Recluses will bite. Of course, this video is by no means saying that a Brown Recluse won’t bite someone if it’s held against their body. What this video does show however is that potentially, some recluses will withhold their defenses, even in situations where they’re trapped and unable to escape. I got mixed feelings with this clip. Although a tarantula related death has never been recorded on a human, it’ still can be quite painful for a little kid to take a bite. The large tarantulas look pretty tolerant, and chances are they probably won’t bite, but she’s still a child and they is a big tarantula with big fangs… and I gotta admit, this video is quite the entertaining one… but I do hope the parents don’t keep on encouraging this behavior for video purposes. While filming my female Israeli Desert Huntsman (Cerbalus negebensis), she decided to sink her fangs into my flesh. Many spiders will use their fangs to grip and anchor themselves onto surfaces to prevent themselves from falling. They’ll typically only do this when their legs are having a hard time sticking onto whatever surface that they’re standing on. In this case, it was my hand that she was having a hard time staying atop on. The bites she gave me were dry bites, which means that there was no venom injected. Like all species of huntsman, this species possesses venom that is relatively mild to humans. Many huntsman spiders typically excel in walking on vertical surfaces. That isn’t the case for the Israeli Desert Huntsman. This particular species is more suited for a flat ground type of lifestyle. You may have not noticed, but she’s missing her right hindleg. Her leg was already missing when I originally got her, but it luckily doesn’t hinder her ability to catch prey in the slightest! *Hand drawn stickers added to my store’s website for purchase via link in bio!
