⛳️ Are you making this putting mistake? Most golfers think of putting in terms of how hard or soft they need to hit it, and that’s a huge mistake. What you need to be thinking about is how big of a stroke you need to make for the given putt. Longer putt? Longer stroke on either side of the golf ball. Shorter putt? Shorter stroke on either side of the golf ball. Stroke length controls distance. As you’re getting prepared to hit your putt, you’re looking at the hole and making some preview strokes, you should be thinking, “Okay, how big of a stroke do I need to make for this putt?” If you’re thinking, “How HARD do I have to HIT this?” ..both “hard” and “hit” imply a lot of acceleration and energy at the golf ball. We don’t want that. We want to create the necessary energy through backstroke speed and length so the putter is moving at a more constant rate at impact to control speed, contact and startlines the best 👍 #putting #puttingtips #putt #puttinginwork #puttinggreen #golf #golfing #golfinstruction #golftip #golftips

Startlines are often a source of conflict and frustration for agility teams, but they don’t have to be! Good startlines are a simple thing that makes a world of difference. It is simple but not easy as it requires understanding and timing. Getting into position between my legs and keeping the sit with feet still until released with a verbal cue is my dog’s way of asking me to do agility. Therefore, I don’t need to ask them to do any of it, they will gladly offer it because they know it’s the button to push if they want that green light. No conflict, no frustration – we both want the same thing! Once the parts of this chain are trained, I rarely reward them with anything other than the release cue. I don’t need to go back and reward the sit with food or toys. It’s quick, efficient, and super clear for all. Key concepts: - Getting into position. Trained as a trick until it’s fluent from any position. I do add a verbal cue, but mostly they just offer the behavior when I stand with wide feed in front of a jump. - Sitting with feet still. Very important training that I do with puppies to make sure they understand that rewards only come to pups with feet still. High rate of reinforcement and clear criteria. - Releasing on a verbal cue only. This is where most broken startlines are made if you don’t do this correctly. Don’t mix motion into your releases! This also ensures that the dog understands the cue of the first obstacle and doesn’t just react to motion. - Focus on the first obstacle. Good focus on the obstacle even with you at a distance or in a weird angle makes it clearer and easier for both you and the dog. This is an area where my dogs definitely could improve.
