Am vergangenen Freitag hat eine Freundinnen-Gruppe das Geburtstagskind in ihrer Runde mit einem Sashiko-Workshop beschenkt. Es war ein vergnüglicher Nachmittag, der uns zu diesem kreativen Bericht inspiriert hat: Gerdas Geburtstag gefeiert. Gesellige Gratulantinnen, großartige Gruppe! Sashiko is a traditional Japanese stitching technique built on repeated rows of running stitches worked across weakened fabric to help stabilize and redistribute stress across the surface. Over time, those practical reinforcement stitches developed into the distinctive geometric patterns now widely recognized as sashiko. And, unlike many repairs that try to disappear, sashiko leaves the reinforcement visible—turning the repair into part of the garment. #salvdit #repairdontreplace #sashiko

Took my mending project to-go and spent a lovely Sunday afternoon with my partner sitting outside, talking, reading, mending and enjoying some time outside. Embroidery and mending is absolutely an on the go activity and I especially love being able to get out and stitch in public. It’s national mending in public day every day if it were up to me! I used our Star/Cross stick ‘n stitch pattern and “make it a kit” thread, needle, scissors add on for this quick and easy elbow mend. #visiblemending #sashiko #sashikostitching #mending #sashikopatterns
