We must stop Chat Control! 💬🔒   Imagine having someone peeking over your shoulder looking at every message, every photo, and every video you send.    This might not be the intention of the proponents of this law want, but it is the result.    We are totally against this and I asked @andreasschwab_mdep if he can call his party leader, Fredrich Merz, to convince him that Germany should not support this dangerous law.

🛑 STOP CHAT CONTROL Inaceitável. A Comissão Europeia quer obrigar todas as plataformas de mensagens a varrer as comunicações privadas dos cidadãos, incluindo mensagens encriptadas. É a legalização da vigilância em massa. Esta medida é um ataque flagrante à privacidade e à liberdade individual e digital de todos os europeus. E o pior? Isto está prestes a tornar-se realidade, depois de ter sido várias vezes derrotada. Com a presidência dinamarquesa do Conselho da União Europeia iniciada este ano, o Chat Control voltou a ser uma prioridade política. A proposta será novamente debatida em outubro, com o objetivo de ressuscitar um regulamento que já foi criticado pelo próprio Tribunal Europeu dos Direitos Humanos. O Governo português não pode deixar passar esta proposta. Aceitar este regulamento seria um ataque direto à encriptação e à privacidade, tal como já se vê no Reino Unido. Este precedente abre a porta a abusos de poder, retira proteções fundamentais contra a vigilância estatal e expõe-nos todos a governos que queiram controlar o que dizemos, fazemos ou pensamos. A Iniciativa Liberal está contra esta proposta desde o seu início, e continuará sempre a lutar para defender a liberdade dos portugueses.
