Am my opinion you can have employees with a high overhead or you can subcontract with a low overhead. It makes almost the same amount of money. Plus I have less stress cause I don’t have to worry about payroll. A non–self-performing GC, on the other hand, subcontracts nearly all construction work to specialty trade contractors. They focus on project management, coordination, and administration, overseeing schedules, budgets, and compliance rather than executing physical work. In short: • Self-performing GC: Executes part of the work themselves; greater control, less dependence on subs. • Non–self-performing GC: Manages and coordinates others; relies fully on subcontractors for field execution.
