Yesterday while I was in the line-up SUP surfing, a local surf instructor paddled up to me and said: « SUPs aren’t allowed here. » 🙄 To which I answered: « Thanks for for your opinion. » Then he said: « It’s for safety, because you don’t look like you’re in control on that thing. » I answered again with: « Thanks for your opinion. » See video below of me ‘not looking in control.’ I was so grateful to paddle away from him toward Snowy and Andrew who were also in the line-up. I 🫶 my friends. I proceeded to catch more waves and I never saw the guy again, but he did get into my head for a moment and started to affect my experience. It was important for me to remind myself to not take on his shit. His dislike for me being in the line-up is on him, not me. My task is to focus on my friends, catching waves and improving my skills while being aware of the folks around me. We’re working on that this coming week in the Mental Agility Mastery course. It’s part of learning how to set boundaries and separate tasks. Don’t take on other people’s opinions or judgements about you. Keep doing your thing. #boundaries #mentalagility #mindbodypaddle #supsurf
