Never bash your employer. Frame it around growth, alignment, or wanting more responsibility. Recruiters are not asking for gossip. They’re listening for ambition. Here’s 🔟 ways to answer it without hurting your chances 👇 “I’ve learned a lot in my current role and I’m ready for bigger challenges.” “I’m looking for more ownership and impact.” “I’ve mastered my responsibilities and want to expand my skill set.” “I’m looking for a role more aligned with my long-term career goals.” “I’m excited about transitioning into an industry that better matches my interests.” “I’m seeking leadership opportunities that aren’t available in my current position.” “I thrive in fast-paced, growth-focused environments.” “I’m looking for work that feels more connected to the company’s mission.” “My current role is very specialized and I’m looking for broader scope.” “I’m looking for opportunities that better align with my desired location or work structure.” Save this for your next interview. When a cabin crew recruiter asks, “Why should we hire you?” This is not a confidence test. And it’s definitely not a sales pitch. Recruiters aren’t listening for the most impressive answer. They’re listening for judgement, composure, and whether you feel safe to work with at 35,000 feet. Most good candidates fail this question because they don’t understand what’s actually being scored. If you want to know how to answer this properly, in a way recruiters recognise and trust, I break it down step by step inside the Cabin Crew Success Kit. Comment KIT and I’ll send you the details. Stop applying through portals where your CV is application #247. Instead: Find someone who already works there (LinkedIn, mutual connections, alumni groups, even cold DMs) → Ask them about their experience at the company (NOT for a referral yet) → Build a 2-3 message rapport → THEN ask if they’d be willing to refer you internally. Why this works: Referrals get reviewed first (sometimes exclusively) You bypass the black hole of HR portals Someone vouches for you before they even see your CV Hiring managers trust their team’s recommendations Use This script: “Hi [Name], I see you work at [Company]. I’m exploring opportunities there and would love 5 minutes of your insight on the culture/team. No pressure!” Then after they respond and you chat briefly: “This has been so helpful! If there’s an opening that fits my background, would you be open to referring me internally? I understand if not!” Hard truth: 80% of jobs are filled through referrals. You’re competing with 200 people online. But if you have an internal referral? You’re competing with maybe 5. That’s the one thing nobody’s doing because it requires actual effort and rejection tolerance. But it works. When you see the same role posted in multiple cities with the same description, it often reflects one of two realities: either the company is keeping location flexible, or they are building a pipeline while deciding where to anchor the hire. It is less often five separate teams hiring five separate people. This is a practical hiring behavior. Recruiting teams widen the top of the funnel to reduce time-to-fill and increase optionality. They can compare supply, salary expectations, and time zone coverage across markets. If leadership has not finalized whether the role will be remote, hybrid, or tied to a hub, multi-location postings keep the requisition alive while that decision is made. The reason candidates misread it is simple: platforms display location as if it equals a separate opening. Internally, it is frequently one requisition with multiple posting locations attached. That means you are competing in a pooled pipeline, not in five different pools. To identify the real hiring location, ignore the city list and look for the team’s center of gravity. The strongest clue is where the likely hiring manager and the majority of the team sit, because that determines meeting hours, office expectations, and stakeholder proximity. Pay ranges can also expose the preferred hub. The location with the most specific hybrid language, time zone requirements, or slightly different compensation band is often the one the business is anchored to. If you can confirm the true hub, you can position yourself around the real constraints: time zone overlap, office cadence, and collaboration model. That is more valuable than applying five times and hoping one hits. At employHER, we help candidates interpret these listing patterns, so you can understand what is real hiring demand versus pipeline strategy and apply with clarity. . . . . . . . . . #jobs2026 #interviewtips #jobsearchtips #jobsearch2026 #employHER
