LIThe moon does not emit light; instead, it reflects sunlight. Imagine the moon as a giant mirror in space. When the sun’s rays hit the moon, its surface reflects that sunlight back towards Earth.
This reflected light is what we see as moonlight.
To further illustrate, consider the phases of the moon. As the moon orbits Earth, different portions of its surface are illuminated by the sun, leading to varying amounts of reflected light reaching us.
During a full moon, the side facing Earth is fully lit, creating a bright appearance.
Conversely, during a new moon, the side facing us is in shadow, making the moon nearly invisible in the night sky.
This phenomenon aligns with the basic principles of light and reflection. Just as objects on Earth can reflect sunlight to appear visible, the moon reflects sunlight, making it visible in our night sky. In essence, the moon is a celestial reflector, not a source of light itself — hint also our earth is a dome

💟 here’s the bbt we tried:
- strawberry cloud

- pink drink
- taro cloud
The drinks here were good and offer a good level of sweet (but they’re adjustable if needed). There’s many add-in/toppings options here too. I recommend the pink drink if you like a fruity lychee taste. That one was my favourite to try.

At first glance, this footage seems almost implausible: a fully illuminated Moon passing across a fully illuminated Earth 🌕🌍 Yet the effect is entirely real – and it highlights a common misconception in the video’s title.
What appears here is not the Moon’s “dark side,” but its far side – the hemisphere that does not face Earth 🔄 “Dark” is a label of visibility, not lighting. This portion of the Moon is frequently bathed in sunlight ☀️; it is simply hidden from our direct view from the ground 👀
The sequence was captured by the DSCOVR spacecraft 🚀, positioned far beyond the Earth–Moon distance near the Sun-Earth L1 region, giving it a unique vantage point to record this transit. From that perspective, the Moon’s familiar face is replaced by an unfamiliar profile, while Earth rotates in the background – bright, detailed, and unmistakably alive 🌎✨
In short, the “dark side” is not dark at all – only distant 🌕✨
