I’m all for toe pads. The general rule is: the less padding, the better. But I’ll give you as much as you need. That said, if you’re still in excruciating pain even with all that padding, that’s your sign that it’s time to reassess the shape or size of the shoe. Padding should fine-tune the fit. Not compensate for the wrong shoe.

Fitted the @universalballetcompetition Senior Classical Intermediate Category Winner and what a JOY it was! ✨ @justsxsha fitting was so much fun, and can we talk about that costume?! Absolutely stunning. Her mom found someone who hand-made it, and the detail and stitching were just beautiful. True craftsmanship. We also talked about something so important: refitting every 6 months. Feet change. ✔️ They swell in the heat. ✔️ They shrink in the cold. ✔️ Intense training and fluid retention can fluctuate foot shape/size. Her previous shoes worked… until they didn’t. And that’s normal! It was simply time for a refit. Now she’s back to feeling confident and supported — just like she should. And that smile? That’s why I love what I do. 💗🩰 If your dancer hasn’t been refit in a while, this is your sign. Come see me at To The Pointe-Shoe Store in Tupelo, MS for a professional pointe shoe fitting. That said, if you’re still in excruciating pain even with all that padding, that’s your sign that it’s time to reassess the shape or size of the shoe. Padding should fine-tune the fit. Not compensate for the wrong shoe.

Be sure to check it out for more helpful info! •HOW DO I MAKE MY POINTE SHOES LAST LONGER? Extend the life of your pointe shoes by rotating pairs, letting them fully dry (use mesh bag & shoe dryers to help), wearing the right fit, and using pointe glue. Ask a fitter or teacher before gluing for the first time. 🗓️ •CAN I JUST ORDER BASED OFF MY STREET SHOE SIZE? No, street shoe sizes don’t align with sizes of most dance shoes, let alone pointe shoes! Fitting pointe shoes depends on the dancer’s foot length, width, shape, flexibility, strength, length of toes, etc. Two dancers can have the same size street shoe and be fit in two very different shoes. 📏 •WHY CAN POINTE SHOES NOT BE RETURNED/EXCHANGED? Pointe shoes are final sale to protect product integrity. Once they leave the store, we can’t guarantee how they’ve been handled (exposed to heat, breaking them in, pulling the drawstrings, etc.). Please ensure a proper fit before purchasing! 🛍️ Does your teacher want to see your shoes before you buy? No problem! She/he can come to your fitting or you are welcome to FaceTime during the fitting to make sure your teacher is in agreement with the fitter.📱 •I AM A DANCE TEACHER. CAN I COME IN TO TRY ON SHOES WITHOUT AN APPOINTMENT? We are not able to accommodate teachers trying on shoes without an appointment with one of our fitters. Because pointe shoes are a significant investment and are carefully managed to maintain their integrity for our dancers, we limit try-ons to have a fitter present. We are happy to help answer questions or discuss styles that may be a good fit for you or your students.🙋🏻‍♀️ •I DON’T WANT MY FEET TO HURT. WHAT CAN I DO? Pointe shoes should not be painful if fitted properly, but they aren’t bedroom slippers. It’s normal for your feet to feel worked after long wear. Speak up about discomfort during your fitting, build strength gradually, and use supportive accessories to reduce friction or pressure—your fitter can help relieve discomfort without compromising safety. 🩹
