TR✅Chimney Bluffs State Park is located in Wayne County along the shores of beautiful Lake Ontario.
✅It’s about 50 miles east of Rochester or 50 miles west of Syracuse, NY.
✅These sand bluffs are formed from eroded drumlins. ✅Interestingly, these existed for thousands of years and continue to change as they continuously erode into new formations.
✅These drumlins stretch for roughly half a mile along the coastline.
✅There are two parking lots at the Chimney Bluffs State Park.
✅The main parking area is located at Garner Road. You need to pay $5 to park here. (From April to October)
✅The second parking lot is located at the end of East Bay Road. You don’t need to pay parking fee here and it gives you faster access to the bluffs.
✅However, the benefits of parking at the main parking lot are that, it has picnic tables, more parking spaces and a handicapped-accessible trail to the shoreline.
✅There are around 4 miles of trails in the Chimney Bluffs State Park.
✅The best trail to hike at Chimney Bluffs State Park is the Bluff Trail which is 1.29 miles long, one way.
✅We started the trail from East Bay road parking lot, the trail heads steeply uphill through steep stairs. After climbing the stairs, it became easy walk through forested roads.
✅Make sure not to go too close to the cliff as the edges here are very dangerous and could fall away due to erosion.
✅You can also get a view of the bluffs from below at the beach side, in front of Lake Ontario. Again, be careful of not getting too close to the cliffs from below.
✅Swimming is not permitted at the beach.
✅Pets are allowed on a leash.
✅The Park is open year round from dawn until dusk.
