PRODUCTO VECTORIAL — idea en 1 minuto El producto vectorial de dos vectores en R3 es el vector que cumple tres cosas: es perpendicular a ambos, tiene magnitud igual al área del paralelogramo que generan y su orientación depende del orden de los factores. Propiedades clave ✅ Perpendicularidad: la dirección del vector resultante es ortogonal a los dos vectores que lo generan —por eso se usa como normal a planos y superficies. ✅ Magnitud = área: su longitud mide exactamente el área del paralelogramo formado por los dos vectores (equivalente al producto de sus longitudes por el seno del ángulo entre ellos). ✅ Orientación binaria: sólo hay dos sentidos posibles; invertir el orden de los vectores invierte la dirección del producto. ✅ Linealidad parcial: es lineal en cada argumento si el otro queda fijo, lo que facilita cálculos por componentes. Interpretación algebraica (sin fórmulas explícitas) ➤ Si escribes los vectores por componentes en la base canónica, las componentes del resultado salen de combinaciones lineales concretas —esencialmente menores (determinantes 2×2) construidos a partir de las componentes originales. Esa construcción algebraica es equivalente a la interpretación geométrica anterior. Aplicaciones relevantes • Cálculo de normales y elementos de área en superficies parametrizadas (integrales de superficie). • Gráficos por ordenador: cálculo de normales para sombreado y detección de orientaciones. • Física y mecánica: torque, momentos y direcciones de fuerzas.
